Today we have access to many wonderful, organic, herbal, essential oil blends.
Whether you are choosing sesame oil or any other oil make sure you are choosing cold pressed, chemical free oil. The Ayurvedic massage is traditionally performed in the morning, before your bath or shower, however, if your life style allows you more time in the evening you can do it evenings. You will need at least 3-4 towels. For added comfort you can warm (not too hot) massage oil. Simply use container with hot water and submerge pump with oil in that container to warm up. Self-massage should take 10 or more minutes.
Every inch of your body should be covered including scalp, soles of the feet. So, head to toe. (If you don’t wash your hair every day and you don’t want any oil in hair you can massage scalp without oil. Towel off access of oil and take warm shower.
And if you think daily ritual is impossible to incorporate into your life style, try weekly. You will still reap benefits of this beautiful practice.
For those who are into Ayurvedic philosophy - there are blends to match your body types - VATA (blends for slender, more nervous individual or frequent traveler), PITTA (for active, type "A" personality) and KAPHA (blend for curvy, more easygoing personality). Start practice Abhyanga!
